Uganda is exploring for oil in two new areas.
Ruth Nankabirwa, the Minister of Power and Mineral Improvement made the announcement on Wednesday (Aug. 20).
She advised journalists that her ministry is conducting preliminary exploration research within the Moroto-Kadam Basin (east) to evaluate its hydrocarbon potential.
In response to Nankabirwa, early outcomes recommend the potential for business oil and gasoline within the Moroto-Kadam Basin.
Comparable surveys have began within the Kyoga Basin (centre) with plans to provoke research within the Hoima Basin which is in western Uganda.
The nation’s present petroleum assets stand at 6.5 billion barrels.
Talking in Kampala on the mid-year media briefing on the developments in Uganda’s oil and gasoline sector, the power ministry listed the aims of the exploration efforts:
Enhance Uganda’s petroleum reserves; lengthen manufacturing past 25 years; and improve the viability of midstream tasks such because the East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP).

TotalEnergies’ EACOP mission contains the drilling of 419 wells in western Uganda and the development of a 1,443-kilometer heated pipeline linking the Lake Albert deposits to the Tanzanian coast on the Indian Ocean.
As Uganda strikes nearer to the manufacturing section, authorities have banked on the oil and gasoline sector to drive the nation’s financial improvement.
